Cedric Chevalley Showcases his contemporary Jewelry at the Enjoia’t Contemporary Jewellery Awards

Cedric Chevalley is showcasing his one-of-a-kind contemporary jewelry at the 25th anniversary of the Enjoia’t Contemporary Jewellery Awards. The presentation will take place on Saturday, October 12, 2019 at 7 pm at the Disseny Hub Barcelona building as a part of Barcelona Jewellery Week.

The event is hosted by A-FAD (Foment de les Arts i del Disseny), and acknowledges the most outstanding contemporary creations in the jewelry industry from both professional and student jewelers. Additionally, the event is known internationally as an opportunity to display the industry’s latest trends.

At the event, Chevalley will be presenting a mobius made of intersecting donuts. He created the piece in early 2019 from wood upcycled from skateboards. This oversized bracelet is more than a statement; it’s an obvious conversation-starter.

“By upcycling, I can take things that are broken, dirty, and no longer available for use, and still create something new with them. I can utilize the best features and bring them to the forefront for a new life as a piece of art,” Chevalley says.

“The process of upcycling is just like the nature of human existence – an existence that inevitably includes failure, loss, and broken pieces. But we just have to decide that tomorrow is a whiteboard – a fresh page. We can start anew: bright and shining. We don’t have to replay yesterday into tomorrow. We can create something entirely different,” he adds.

The artists’ pieces have been on display since September 27, 2019 at the Disseny Hub Barcelona building in Room B. In addition to viewing the industry’s latest pieces and attending the award ceremony, attendees can directly participate by voting for the winner of the Opinion Award. The artists will be wearing their own pieces at the party and showing them off so attendees can view the pieces close up.
